My Thoughts about Anne of Green Gables DVD Series –
I love the Anne of Green Gables book series and the movie series is great too! I was really excited to get my hands on the animated DVD series! This 9 volume DVD series comes in three box sets with 3 DVDs in each box. Each DVD has 2 twenty-five minute episodes. Each episode can be played in English or French. Kids’ comments on the episodes make up the special features.
My son and I really enjoyed this DVD series. You would think that Anne of Green Gables if only for girls, but it is not. My 2-year-old son enjoyed watching it with me. He liked all the bright colors and the fun pictures. I enjoyed watching Anne in animated form. The episodes don’t follow the book, but rather detail situations Anne could have experienced during the days not talked about in the books.
Each episode of the DVD series is fun and whimsical. We get to watch Anne, Diana, and Gilbert wade through new adventures. In each episode, Anne has a problem to solve or she gets into some scrape. We then spend the rest of the episode trying to figure out how to get out of it or how to solve the problem. It also has lots of learning opportunities, and your littles will learn from the DVD series. So you won’t have to feel guilty for letting your kids watch some tv.
I really enjoyed this Anne of Green Gables DVD series. It made me nostalgic for the book series, and I did enjoy watching it with my son! He was engaged and hopefully learning something!
