Circuit Scribe offers incredible products which allow you imagine and create while connecting circuits you draw with conductive silver ink.

Circuit Scribe remains one of my favorite companies to shop when it comes to holiday gifts. Their amazing circuit kits keep everyone entertained for hours. Last year, I reviewed the Ultimate Circuit Kit and the Mini Kit. This year, the Maker Kit came to visit OMG Goodies! Don’t miss this STEM project; if we gave awards it would receive the STEM Product of the Year Award from me!

My Thoughts on Circuit Scribe’s Maker Kit:

Everyone take a trip back to science 101. What are circuits? We know they are necessary for electricity. They run our computers and our lights, our cars, appliances, T.V.’s—everything electronic, but what are they?

Circuits allow electrons to flow as energy. When a circuit is closed, then the power is on. Lights light, fans blow, computers turn on. When they are open, nothing runs.

When designing circuits various operations happen, depending on how they are designed. Signals can be interrupted or amplified. Usually, circuits are connected using wires. Circuit Scribe gets rid of the wires and provides us with conductive silver ink.

Conductive silver ink, like wires, allows electrons to flow through closed circuits. Don’t worry, if you touch it you won’t get shocked! However, you can now draw all kinds of fun designs. Experiment with lights, buzzers, blinkers, light sensors, resistors, and even faders with this 17 piece kit!

Here, you can see a couple of quick designs my son and I came up with.

I kept my design simple with the red blue LED. The direction of the red blue LED determines if the red light or the blue light turns on.

My son designed a blinker. By turning the dial on the component found at the bottom the green light blinks either faster or slower.

In the Maker Kit:

The Maker Kit includes 17 pieces:

  • 9V Battery adapter with 9V battery
  • x2 Bi-LED
  • SPST Switch
  • NPN Transistor
  • 2-Pin Adapter with 5x resistors, 2x capacitors, and one photoresistor
  • Potentiometer
  • Blinker
  • Buzzer
  • RGB LED
  • Light Sensor
  • Conductive Ink Pen
  • Circuit Stencil
  • Jumper Sticker Sheet
  • Workbook
  • Steel sheet

Sketch:

Sometimes we find these awesome kits but after playing with them for a while we run out of ideas. Other times, we have fantastic ideas and nowhere to show what we’ve come up with. Circuit Scribe understands that science isn’t about working alone. Science includes cooperation and communication. That’s why they have Sketch on their website. Sketch is a place where Circuit Scribe customers can find incredible ideas for circuits. It is also a place where we can share our projects and creations! People have created games, decorations, book covers, holiday cards and more!  Be sure to check it out!
