Cedar Fort. Inc has published The Cookie Companion, a cookbook by Georganne Bell This book helps you make delicious decorative sugar cookies!  I am happy to share my thoughts with you on OMG Goodies!

My Thoughts On The Cookie Companion: Cookie Decorating by Georganne Bell –

I loved opening this bright colorful book!  It made me happy just looking at it!  I am a lover of sugar cookies; The Cookie Companion is a wonderful addition to my kitchen.  It is basic and easy to understand which is a must for me  I don’t want to go through learning terms and reading crazy instructions, I don’t understand, before being able to create my cookies.  The simplicity in which Georganne describes how to create these delicious delights makes you feel like she is right in the room as if learning from an old friend.

I decided that I would read through The Cookie Companion a little before I tried to make any cookies.  In the book, I found a wonderful vanilla sugar cookie recipe and more tips on decorating cookies and decorating techniques than I ever imagined possible.  I like how Georganne describes why she does things in the order she does, then I know the reasoning behind her craft.  The recipe for her vanilla sugar cookies is excellent!  It makes nice sturdy cookies which taste great even without frosting!  I was tempted to eat them all before I ever tried decorating them!

In The Cookie Companion, Georganne goes over how to mix your color into your frosting, as well as how to get the consistency right.  Mixing colors isn’t an easy task for me, but I did enjoy mixing icing colors.  Georganne suggests to mix the color in, and then adjust the thickness of your frosting.  I tried her way and it worked!

Here are a couple simple samples I tried.  I am in no way close to being a master, but I am that much closer for trying!

Lacy Range

Hi my name is Lacy and I am 27 years old. I am a mommy, blogger, and piano/guitar lover. I am a single mom making ends meet by working as a massage therapist, studying to become a doula, and blogging on the side. I love what I do and I love time with my kids. Nothing is better than spending the day playing hide and seak or sliding down slides at the park. My greatest joy is playing with my children. I am so happy and grateful for them.
I grew up in a small town in southern Idaho. I now live in a semi-small town in Arizona. I guess you could say I like the small town feel. Overall I say, life is what you make it. I love life, I love my kids, I love what I do.
