Fresh Baby, Where Healthy Eating Starts

Fresh Baby exists to help parents raise healthy kids! These days about “1 in 6 kids attending school are obese. 30-40% of these kids are at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes.” I think this is a sad fact and there must be something parents everywhere can do about it. Fresh Baby has many helpful tools to start your baby or child on a healthy path!

Fresh Baby

Fresh Baby has family-friendly recipes, tips on eating healthy for all, and products in which to help you with your goals to eat better! “Fresh Baby supports parents with simple and natural solutions to reducing a child’s risk of obesity by promoting the development of healthy eating habits from the first bite of solid foods.”  I am glad to be on-board with Fresh Baby as I have issues teaching my daughter these habits myself and it’s hard to figure out proper servings. I received a set to review. We are very happy to have Fresh Baby on OMG Goodies!

My Thoughts about Fresh Baby –

In what I received was a kid-friendly reusable water bottle, a kid’s MyPlate apron (not pictured because my kid grabbed it and ran off), 5-section MyPlate, 4-6 ounce dairy cup, MyPlate/Let’s Move placemat, kid’s Soup/Salad bowl, and a very helpful Kid’s Portion Tip Guide! I wasn’t expecting to receive so much, but I am thrilled that I did.

The cup is extremely useful, as I’ve been trying to teach my daughter how to drink from a normal cup. There’s a lid with two holes along the edge of the lid, so a child can learn to sip from a cup without lots of spilling. The reusable water bottle holds 10 ounces of water and allows you to write your child’s name on the back. I would probably recommend only using this for water as it may be tough to clean. It’s very easy to fill though. I wouldn’t let your child have this in the house unsupervised as they may go around squeezing water everywhere, which is fairly easy to do. (I did this accidentally.)

The kid’s 5-section MyPlate from Fresh Baby is awesome. I love all the bright colors and all the sections. My daughter HATES when food touches together and I only have a few sectional plates. This is the only one I have that helps with portions. If you’ve ever wondered “am I feeding my kid too much? am I feeding them too little? Should I be making them finish that?” Fresh Baby helps answer that. The sections show approximately how much of each food group should be on the plate. What surprised me is that the meat section is smaller than the rest.

According to the Kid’s Portion Tip Guide a toddler should only have 2 ounces of protein. Ages four to eight should only have about 4 ounces of protein in their day. (3 ounces is about the size of a playing card.) This means I’ve actually been trying to fed my daughter too much protein in her day, and sometimes, was successful. I’ve apparently over-killed on fruits some days as well. The recommended servings of fruits and vegetables is 1 1/2 cups a day.   I am glad the guide is a plastic that can wipe clean as I am sure I will be looking at it often to remind me of her dietary guidelines.

The Kid’s MyPlate apron had my kid up and running around. She immediately began asking “Mommy! Can I help you in the kitchen?! I want to cook!” This would’ve been great, had we not just gotten past lunch. (Also happened to be a day when we’re eating out.) I agreed to letting her help tomorrow morning with pancakes, so that she could happily use her new apron. Not cooking didn’t stop her from wearing the Fresh Baby apron though, she went on to pretend play chef in her room.

Fresh Baby allows you to figure out proper portion control to make sure your children have healthy diets. They even provide you with kid-friendly healthy recipes upon visiting their website. Their products are FDA food-safe, Lead, BP-A & Phthalate – FREE and dishwasher safe, as well as microwaveable. (I love anything I can throw into the dishwasher and microwave!)

I will be relying on Fresh Baby to help my daughter gain and keep healthy eating habits! Remember even though you have a healthy eating plan, you still need lots of physical activity! Eat Healthy and Play Healthy!

About the author

Hi, my name is Taryn and I'm 29 years old. I am a mom of a crazy little girl and an insane little dog. Both keep me on my toes. I love to experiment with new recipes, try new fashion styles, and am a huge movie buff. My daughter loves new toys, books and clothes. She is highly opinionated at the age of 4, she thinks she knows everything. Sometimes, I think she does too. The dog is extremely picky! She would be the best dog to try any new toy or treat on. I am open to all sorts of reviews as I head into them with a very open mind.

I love the sectioned plate. I used to counsel nutrition before I went into nursing so have followed the children’s obesity epidemic. They have shown little kids even have signs of heart disease because of their bad food choices. Parents have to take the first steps and these products would help.
