My Gnome on the Roam Adventure Kit

Take your gnome and roam through a world of adventures as a family, then journal together about your experiences, whether they are 15 minutes of fun or longer!

My Gnome on the Roam Adventures Kit

Gnome on the Roam, created by founder Anne Armstrong, helps families spend 15 minutes with each other and journal about their experiences. The My Gnome on the Roam free app provides you with one great idea every day. Choose to do the activity then or later, but whatever you do, don’t forget your gnome and always take a picture. OMG Goodies loves family time, but we understand sometimes it’s hard to know what to do! That’s why we like My Gnome on the Roam Family Adventures Kit.

My Thoughts on My Gnome on the Roam Family Adventures Kit:

Look at this adorable gnome! He’s waiting for you and your children to give him a name and adopt him forever!

Paint, markers, crayons, even hot glue and other crafting supplies make your little guy feel like a part of your family. Once he is decorated and named, register him on the My Gnome on the Road website and let your adventures begin!

Read the Story:

Included in the Adventure Kit is the story of Gustav. Gustav lives in a beautiful garden but wonders what lies beyond his picket fence. Though the visitors of the garden try to tell him and help him see the outside world, it isn’t until a new friend arrives that he travels away from home.

This story creates the backstory for roaming gnomes. Afterall, as wonderous as gardens are, every gnome loves to experience new things! Now that you have a gnome in your home, you need to help him roam! What adventures will you take?

This hardback book comes with pages ready to color if you choose, but don’t feel like you have to, coloring pages are available to print on the My Gnome on the Roam website! You and your family are certain to enjoy every beautiful illustration, whether or not you color them.

The Adventures:

It’s easy to say you’ll plan adventures with your gnome, but sometimes life makes coming up with ideas harder than it has to be. This is where the My Gnome on the Roam App, available in the Apple and Play stores, comes in handy! Each day a simple activity that takes 15 minutes or less is shared with the app-users. Today, my family activity idea consists of gathering items from outside and making a simple display or centerpiece for our home.

Called the anti-app by the New York Times, this app provides you with family time instead of taking your attention away from those most important to you! A printable arrives in your email box for you as a free gift and you can set the time you receive the daily activity notifications!

Each day of the week has a theme:

  • Make it Monday:               Something to make together
  • Tell me Tuesday:              Great Questions and Conversation Starters
  • Wanderlust Wednesday:   Explore together
  • Throwback Thursday:       Old school fun and games
  • Freaky Friday:                   A fun way to end the week
  • Saterdazzle Day:              Special fun designed to take a bit longer than 15 minutes
  • Soul Food Sunday:           End your week by feeding your soul . . . Random acts of kindness

Want longer adventures or have some of your own? No problem! Take your gnome friend with you and enjoy the time you create together! That’s what My Gnome on the Roam is all about, families spending more time with each other instead of falling into the trap of busy schedules and the mundane.

The Journal:

Now that you’ve had your adventure, it’s time to tell your story!

This weekend my family traveled to a mountain campground, set up tents and had a marvelous adventure! We visited the fish hatchery, played in the creek, enjoyed the beautiful fall leaves (my favorite was the Box Elder leaves) and watched squirrels and birds play in our campsite. Add to that caught and ate a trout, picked apples, saw deer and three skunks, and played with a tarantula, and you know we had plenty of fun to record!

The journal in the My Gnome on the Roam Kit has the perfect pages for telling the stories of your family fun! Each page has space for you to draw or glue a picture and room for you to write your story. Use the wood pen to write it together, or let each family member take a turn. Memories of family fun are easily forgotten when they are not written down. I love how this program helps families to record their history and memories for themselves and their prosperity!
